CAMILLA
Fire Emblem Fates
Photographer
Why I chose to make this costume:
I haven't had this many waifu feels for a character since Lulu from FFX. I used to answer in interviews, when asked, that Lulu is the character I've cosplayed who I most relate to, but now it's gotta be Camilla. After 17 years of activity in cosplay, I'm kind of a big sister to many cosplayers, and I feel very protective of the cosplay community as a whole. I love and relate to Camilla's vivaciousness, how she teases the audience with her sexuality, but is actually very pure and innocent at heart. The most important thing to Camilla is her family and friends.
Even the costume is representative of who I am. I put on mental armor, before dealing with the precarious world of internet trolls. I am a seamstress at heart, and I used foam and fabric to make sewn armor for Camilla!
How I made this costume:
For the armor, I chose to work with 2mm and 3mm foam, and sewed black Ultrapreme over all the pieces, then trimmed them in black and gold. It's time consuming AF, but the result is durable, lightweight, and comfortable.
All the sculpted pieces are made out of EVA foam, with some Worbla detailing.
Most of the fabrics I used are from my CosplayFabrics.com line, and all of them came from Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores.
I made the axe out of the most amazing EVA foam from Cosplay Shop 'Select Style' and pvc pipes.
Thoughts on this costume:
This was a dream costume to complete, and a pleasure project to work on!
