Ayumi Hamasaki - Ladies’ Night Music Video

Why I decided to make this costume:

I knew I had to make this costume when I saw the "Ladies' Night" Music Video - I loved the song already and the video totally sold me. The pink/blue outfit was so out there and tacky cute, and it was also awesome to see Ayu back in long dark hair.

How I made this costume:

The hardest part was finding the right material for this costume, the creation process itself was very enjoyable! I made a pink satin pleated skirt and matching corset with blue sequined heart applique; used two different colored blue organza to make the three tier ruffle trim (hand stitched on); as well as hand made the hot pink fluffy choker and earrings. I also took artistic license to create some beaded accents and accessories hanging from the skirt. After a day of wandering every mall in Las Vegas lol, I found this great little plushie dog and made a matching little outfit for it.

By Anizona 2006, where I wanted to debut this costume, I wasn't able to find the right blue monster fur for the leg warmers so I opted for fuzzy fleese instead. I now have the correct fur/leg warmers ready for the next event!

Thoughts on this costume:

It was a lot of fun to cosplay Ayu again, I do love her so much! For the most part I am happy with the outcome of this costume, but am aware that I am missing a couple of props and need to do my hair and makeup much better next time. Hopefully I'll have the chance to do another photoshoot in this outfit, maybe even in a hotel hallway?
