NYCC insanity!

11/03/11: New photos of Felicia are added to the costume gallery! I did a photoshoot with Benny Lee of Emanon Design a little while ago and here are my favorite shots!

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 So New York Comic Con happened, and exceeded all of my expectations! As an exhibitor, NYCC is a hard show to set up at because of the Javits Center's location and inaccessibility to a lot of things, but I got to load in on Tuesday before a lot of other vendors arrived, which helped a lot. On Wednesday I could relax and do a photoshoot with Filipino Photographer Jay Tablante. We did three costume looks and I can't wait to see the photos! Thank you, Jay, for the opportunity to shoot together. Here are a couple of phone pic snapshots of some of the costumes we shot - Amber and Catwoman!
On Thursday I finished setting up and the hall opened for 3 hours in the afternoon. I changed into Amber just in time for the first Cosplay For a Cause calendar signing at my booth, with Riddle and Marie-Claude. I was pulled aside for an interview and photos with the New York Post for an article they published in the Sunday paper, which turned out to be rather disappointing and misleading. It was nice to meet some Sucker Punch fans though and do some more shots in Amber. I was salute-happy that day :)
Friday was Girls with Guns day for me lol - I got into Baroness from G.I. Joe early in the day and did a photoshoot as well as videoshoot. I also took advantage of the Hasboro booth's G.J. Joe background stand haha. Later that afternoon I donned my newest costume, made for NYCC and the Jay Tablante shoot - Domino ala X-Force of the Marvel Universe. I made the bodysuit out of a rubber coated spandex and gunmetal grey knit, in a custom pattern designed by me. The eye tattoo is a silicone patch, so I wouldn't have to paint it on every time. Gathering the arsenal was the most fun part of the costume I think. I have 2 hand guns, a P-90, 2 sets of throwing knives and a big knife strapped to my arm lol. Felt particularly badass as Domino.
Seth Green came by my booth so I had to ask him for a photo! Also got to pose on the Marvel Avengers stage for a bit and do a live stream interview in the Marvel Skybox Studio, yay!
Saturday started off with Catwoman (hung out with the Christian Bale Batman suit at Legendary Pictures booth for a while), and another successful Cosplay For a Cause signing. I want to thank Meagan-Marie, Riddle and Marie-Claude for taking time out of their busy schedule to walk over to my booth each morning to do the signing with me. I think the fans really appreciated seeing us together and the calendar sold well with our combined presence. It was really awesome of them to each do a brand new photoshoot for the calendar, but to make the effort to partake in at-con signings really shows how much they care about the cause and the charity effort. At the end of the year we are announcing on the website how much money will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross, and these ladies really went the extra mile to help push for those numbers. One of the guys who bought a calendar, Joseph, have us a nice print of the 4 of us! I also got to do a video interview with Nerd Caliber where I talk about the calendar.
Later that day I changed into my USO Girl outfit and went to the Marvel stage, in hopes of meeting the Avengers cast. A huge Thank You to Judy and Mike for allowing us the opportunity to get posters signed and photos taken with Chris Evans and Tom Hiddleston! The shot with Chris even ended up on Entertainment Weekly's article about new Avengers footage being released at NYCC. I was happy to get my helmet signed by Chris and Tom as well <3
On Sunday I wore my Steampunk Madam costume and did an off-site photoshoot with Anna Fisher, who rented out the Juliet Supper Club for a few hours. I am a great admirer of Anna's photos and it is always a pleasure to shoot with her. These images of the Steampunk outfit are some of my very favorites. The fabulous hat is a loaner from The Blond Swan, who have asked me for a while to model for them. This was a great opportunity to grab some commercial shots for them as well.
All together it was an amazing weekend - I met so many great people and got to see my friends a lot as well. What more can a girl ask for? Definitely posting more photos soon, and I'll also try to do con reports more often. It's all a matter of time lol.
New York Comic Con!
It's been a whirlwind year and won't let up! Anime Weekend Atlanta was AMAZING this time, wish I had had the time to take photos and write up a report about it. It is one of my favorite cons and a great place for cosplayers to show off their craftsmanship! Be there next year!
Next up for me is New York Comic Con, the last big US con of the year! It is a 4-day show and my cosplay line up for the event is as follows:
Yes I am debuting another new cosplay - from the Marvel Universe so watch out! Most of these costumes I'm bringing for various photoshoots so I'll be cosplaying all weekend. Might even bring more cosplays just for fun. :) When I am wearing what will depend on the photographers' and locations available so I'm afraid you'll just have to come by my booth each day to see which character I'm dressed at haha!
I'll have a booth inside the exhibitor hall - booth #379. My full line of cosplay products as well as photo prints will be available at the booth. I've stocked up on pony accessories especially so let's hope we don't run out.
Click to view full version of the map and my booth location
I will also be signing alongside 3 other lovely ladies from the Cosplay For A Cause calendar every day at my booth. The signing times are:
Thurs 5:30-6:30PM
Fri 11am-12pm
Sat 11am-12pm
Sun 10am-11am
This is a charity effort with all proceeds donated to the Japanese Red Cross :)
I look forward to seeing many many of you in the Big Apple! don't be shy, come and say hi! ^_~
And lastly, here is a new gallery addition - Daenerys Targaryen from A Song of Ice And Fire/Game of Thrones.
Comic Con was AH-mazing!
SDCC was the best ever this year - I cosplayed every day and debuted three new costumes successfully, got to hang out with good friends, meet some new ones, and had a couple of once in a lifetime opportunities come my way. I really couldn't have asked for a better time, except maybe that my feet were shredded by Sunday of Comic Con lol. Too much walking, dancing and posing in heels.
I want to write up a real report with photos illustrating the weekend but that's gonna take hours, and right now I just don't have that time. Otakuthon in Montreal is coming up next weekend, I'm flying to Germany again (more shopping with mom? :D), I got a cosplay event in NYC in a couple of weeks and three costumes to make for Dragoncon. But I'm gonna take an evening to share SDCC photos, promised!
For now I got to update this website a little, with two new costume galleries:
and
 Also have a couple of Deviant Art Preview pics of newly debuted cosplays! More goodies coming soon so stay tuned!
San Diego Comic Con schedule
I've been too busy making costumes, getting through AX and getting over being sick to update this journal. But I'm taking these 10 min to do it right now, rawwr! Thought I'd post my San Diego Comic Con schedule since SDCC is the only convention where I am not chained to a booth so I'm ready to go nuts! Costumes I'm bringing:
New costumes:
Daenerys - in the planning stages for almost a decade! My favorite character in my favorite book series. She has helped gotten me through some rough moments in my life. The ultimate strong female. I can't even begin to describe how much I love Dany. This is the year to finally make it happen, with the Game of Thrones TV show exploding all over the world, and with the fifth book coming out, and with George himself and the throne being at SDCC. My mission is to get a photo on the throne (just gotta sit my butt down in it for 1 picture!!!), and dear Gawd I hope so, meet the man himself while in costume.
I've been collecting materials all year and started on the costume about 10 days ago. I really hope it will look good ;_;... Of course I didn't get to do everything I planned on, but at Dragoncon on Friday we're doing a whole group so I can add details to the outfit for then.
Sif - I love red costumes I've discovered. It's a good color on me and I like sewing scarlet fabric lol. Plus Lady Sif is badass! I was a bit disappointed in the Thor movie and Sif in it, so I went for the comic book version. All that fur will be hawt in July weather but I don't care!
Amber - since the first preview images came out for Sucker Punch I have been told to make Amber by various friends, and I said EFF YES! LOVE the fighter pilot look. Actually, I liked the movie, too! Been working on her diligently and trying to nail down all the details. I love that my prop sourcing included buying candy lol.
Will be with Monique as Baby Doll at SDCC, and hoping for a full group at Dragoncon. Who is still doing it there???
Con schedule:
Wednesday: Flying in for Preview Night - no costumes of course, just going to drool over the new goodies on display!
Thursday: Daenerys Targaryen (book version) from A Song of Ice and Fire
          no costumes in the afternoon as I want to SHOP!
Friday: 10am - 12:30pm modeling at Anovos booth in Star Trek TOS red dress
        1pm modeling at Gentle Giants booth
        afternoon Amber from Sucker Punch (stalking the Bunny Mech)
        Sif from Thor (comic book version) for photos
Saturday: Sif from Thor, 1pm judging the costume contest at Marvel booth,
          afternoon Ame-Comi Wonder Woman
Sunday: No costumes, gotta head back home since Otakon is the following weekend (egads!)
I'll also be modeling at the Lucas Film party and rocking it out at various other parties at night. I'm also supposed to be in the Morgan Spurlock documentary about Comic Con but who knows how they cut and edited the footage they shot of me last year... lol.
Since I have three new costumes, I am open for photoshoots and groups if they line up time wise. I'm very excited to see old friends, go shopping, eat great food and geek out at the mecca of the fandom world!
